Whitehead, 24, entered the NFL as an undrafted rookie free agent signing by the San Francisco 49ers in 2015. The 5 foot 11, 195 pound defender spent most of his first season with the 49ers' practice squad. He was added to the Baltimore Ravens' active roster on Dec. 23, 2015, but was inactive for the final two games of the season. Baltimore waived Whitehead in May of 2016 before he signed with the Packers. Whitehead made two special teams appearances last season for the Packers. He was on the Packers' practice squad for the rest of the season and postseason. He was on Green Bay's practice squad for the first six games of the 2017 season.

Whitehead will wear No. 35 for the Packers.

The Packers currently have Morgan Burnett and Ha Ha Clinton-Dix listed as their starting safeties on the depth chart. Josh Jones and Marwin Evans are listed as Burnett's backups, while Kentrell Brice is the No. 2 free safety.
