Oct. 21 (UPI) -- Running back Josh Ferguson has been promoted from the Indianapolis Colts' practice squad.

Indianapolis announced the move on Friday. The Colts placed running back Robert Turbin on the injured reserve list in a corresponding transaction.

Ferguson, 24, entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent signing by the Colts in 2016. He had 15 carries for 20 yards and 20 catches for 136 yards in 16 games last season. He was with the Colts through the 2017 offseason program and training camp before he was waived with an injured designation on Sept. 2. Ferguson was placed on injured reserve after passing through waivers. The Colts then reached an injury settlement with Ferguson on Sept. 8.

The 5 foot 10, 200 pound running back also had four kick returns for 80 yards in 2016.

Turbin, 27, had 23 carries for 53 yards and a score in six games for the Colts this season. The 5 foot 10, 216 pound running back was a fourth round pick by the Seattle Seahawks in the 2012 NFL Draft. Turbin also played for the Cleveland Browns and Dallas Cowboys, before joining the Colts in 2016.

Turbin has 351 carries for 1,344 yards and nine scores during his career. He also has 85 catches for 685 yards and three touchdowns.
