Watkins, who failed to record a reception in Sunday's game against the Seattle Seahawks, has just 14 catches for 211 yards on the season. The totals have Watkins, who was the fourth overall pick of the 2014 draft, fourth on the Rams (3-2) in both categories through five weeks.
"As a player, of course you're going to be frustrated," Watkins told the L.A. Times on Wednesday. "I don't know a player, a wide receiver, that's not frustrated throughout the game if you're not getting the ball. Each week, it could change. They had certain coverage that kind of took me out of the game, and that's part of the game."
When asked if he saw a way to increase his role on the offense, Watkins said, "I don't know."
Watkins was acquired by Los Angeles from the Buffalo Bills in August for cornerback E.J. Gaines and a second-round pick.
The 24-year-old Watkins was drafted by the Bills in 2014 after Buffalo traded its first- and fourth-round picks in the following draft to the Cleveland Browns to move up the No. 4.
The former Clemson standout had 153 catches for 2,459 yards and 17 touchdowns in three NFL seasons in Buffalo despite undergoing multiple foot surgeries.
