NFL commissioner Roger Goodell's wife defends him with anonymous Twitter account

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell's wife used an anonymous Twitter account to defend her husband following critical stories or what she considered erroneous media accounts, the Wall Street Journal reported.

Jane Skinner Goodell replied to the Journal with a written response.

"It was a REALLY silly thing to do and done out of frustration -- and love," she said, according to the Journal. "As a former media member, I'm always bothered when the coverage doesn't provide a complete and accurate picture of a story. I'm also a wife and a mom. I have always passionately defended the hard-working guy I love -- and I always will. I just may not use Twitter to do so in the future!"

Jane Skinner Goodell was an anchor for Fox News before she retired in 2011.

She used the Twitter account @forargument 14 times to defend her husband in response to various reports, according to the Journal report. The Twitter account has since been deleted.

When Pro Football Talk reported it was "on the commissioner" to end the recent national anthem controversy, the @forargument Twitter account responded, "Please do better reporting. He is already doing this. You are behind."
