Oct. 10 (UPI) -- Practice squad inside linebacker Darnell Sankey has joined the Indianapolis Colts' 53-man active roster.

The Colts announced his promotion from the practice squad on Tuesday. The Colts also signed running back Marcus Murphy to the practice squad and placed wide receiver Krishawn Hogan on injured reserve in corresponding transactions.

Sankey, the cousin of former Tennessee Titans running back Bishop Sankey, spent time with the practice squads for the Kansas City Chiefs and Oakland Raiders during his 2016 rookie campaign. The 6 foot 2, 250 pound linebacker was active in Week 2 for the Colts' 16-13 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.

Murphy was originally a seventh round pick by the New Orleans Saints in the 2015 NFL Draft. The Missouri product spent Week 1 through Week 4 with the New York Jets' practice squad this season. He had 405 yards on 19 kickoff returns and 318 yards and a touchdown on 34 punt returns during his tenure with the Saints. He had 105 yards on seven kickoff returns and 57 yards on six punt returns in three games last season for the Saints.

Hogan joined the Colts' active roster from the practice squad on Sept. 26. He played for the Colts this season against the Seattle Seahawks and the San Francisco 49ers. Hogan joined the Colts' practice squad on Sept. 4. He entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent signing by the Cardinals.
