Deon King: Cleveland Browns promote linebacker to active roster, put LB Alexander on I.R.

Oct. 3 (UPI) -- Linebacker Deon King has joined the Cleveland Browns' active roster.

Cleveland announced the move on Tuesday afternoon. The Browns also placed linebacker Dominique Alexander on injured reserve due to a knee injury. Cleveland also signed linebacker Austin Calitro and wide receiver Rannell Hall to its practice squad while releasing linebacker Garrett Sickels from its practice squad in corresponding transactions.

King, 24, originally signed with the Browns on June 12. He was waived on Sept. 3 and re-signed to the Browns' practice squad on Sept. 3. King spent the first four weeks fo the season on the team's practice squad. The 6-foot, 220-pound defender played in two games for the San Diego Chargers and four games for the Indianapolis Colts last season, registering one tackle.

Alexander was a backup in four games for the Browns, making one tackle on special teams. He joined the Browns as an undrafted rookie free agent during the 2016 offseason. Alexander suffered a knee injury in the first quarter Sunday in the Browns' 31-7 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.

Calitro joined the New York Jets this offseason as an undrafted free agent. He also spent two weeks with the Seattle Seahawks' practice squad. Hall signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2015 as an undrafted free agent out of Central Florida. He played in one game with the Browns in 2015, but missed the 2016 season with a leg injury.

Hall had 103 yards and a score on seven receptions this preseason.
