Seattle Seahawks LT Rees Odhiambo hospitalized after breathing issue; Chris Carson hurt

Seattle Seahawks left tackle Rees Odhiambo was taken to the hospital Sunday night after he experienced trouble breathing and rookie running back Chris Carson suffered a "significant" ankle injury during the 46-18 win against the Indianapolis Colts.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said Odhiambo took a hard hit to the chest on an interception in the third quarter and needed medical attention in the locker room after the game when he suddenly had trouble breathing.

"All of his signs are really stable. He's really solid and all that," Carroll told reporters Sunday night. "He got hit in the chest, and he just had a little trouble breathing, and so they just had to do all the precautionary work to make sure he was OK."

Odhiambo, a third-round pick in 2016 out of Boise State, remained in the hospital overnight.

"He had some trouble breathing after that (hit in the third quarter)," Carroll said. "Particularly after the game as he was kind of calming down and quieting down. So we took care of him. Hopefully he'll be all right.''

Carson was carted off the field after going down midway through the fourth quarter when he was tackled for no gain. He finished with 42 yards on 12 carries.

"We had a couple different reports here, but now we know that he did hurt his ankle significantly," Carroll said after the game. "We'll see what that means when we get all the MRIs and all that stuff done.

"We don't know if he needs surgery or any of that kind of stuff. We don't know that yet. But it's significant."

The Seahawks had other key injuries in Sunday night's win.

Cornerback Jeremy Lane suffered a groin injury on the first series of the game and defensive end Cliff Avril exited with a neck injury later in the quarter. Both players did not return to the game.
