Davante Adams: MRI comes back 'clean' on Green Bay Packers WR

Sept. 29 (UPI) -- Wide receiver Davante Adams stayed overnight in the hospital but received a clean result on his MRI after taking a big hit.

A league source told NFL Network that Dr. Allen Sills revealed the Green Bay Packers wide receiver suffered a concussion after taking the impact from Chicago Bears linebacker Danny Trevathan on Thursday night.

The NFL office told USA Today that "all signs are good from doctors," relating to Adams' health.

Adams suffered the injury with 4:30 remaining the third quarter. The Packers led the Bears 21-7. He caught a short pass from Aaron Rogers before being wrapped up by Bears safety Adrian Amos. But the referees did not blow the play dead.

Bears defenders stood up Adams before Trevathan came roaring in. His helmet drilled Adams' helmet and the wide receiver fell to the ground and his body was momentarily motionless. Packers players anxiously waved toward the sideline to try to get medical attention for their teammate.

Trevathan was penalized on the play and Adams was removed from Lambeau Field on a stretcher. Adams held a thumbs up to the fans as he was leaving the stadium. He was taken away in an ambulance and examined for concussion and neck injuries.

After the game Trevathan said the hit wasn't intentional and he was going to reach out to Adams.

"I was just trying to make a play," Trevathan said, according to the Bears' website. "It wasn't intentional. I was just trying to hustle to the ball and do my job. Unfortunately, he ended up hurt. I'm sorry about that. I'm going to reach out to him and try to send him a message. We play a physical game, but you never wish that on anybody."

Trevathan also said that he doesn't think he should be suspended. The NFL is currently reviewing the play and will likely announce possible discipline in the coming days.
