Sept. 22 (UPI) -- The Cincinnati Bengals trimmed down the wide receiver group by waiving Jake Kumerow.

Cincinnati announced the move on Friday. Kumerow was on the team's reserve/injured list. The 6-foot-4, 206-pound pass catcher suffered an ankle injury early in training camp and was released under the waived/injured category on Aug. 9. He reverted to the team's reserve/injured list on Aug. 10 after he cleared waivers.

Kumerow, 25, joined the Bengals as an undrafted college free agent signing in 2015 out of Wisconsin-Whitewater. He spent most of his tenure with the Bengals on the practice squad. He was on the team's 53-man roster and inactive for one game last season.

The Bengals are absolutely loaded at wide receiver. Brandon LaFell, Tyler Boyd, John Ross, Cody Core, Josh Malone and Alex Erickson all stand behind perennial Pro Bowl selection A.J. Green on the team's depth chart.

Ross, the Bengals' first-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, was limited in practice Wednesday and did not practice on Thursday or Friday because of a knee injury. Pro Bowl tight end Tyler Eifert did not practice this week due to a back injury. Both players have been ruled out.

Cincinnati hasn't scored a touchdown yet through two weeks of the 2017 season.

The Bengals' next test is a road game at 4:25 p.m. Sunday against the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field.
