Former NFL defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth took to social media to allege Wednesday night that his former girlfriend and the mother of his child abused him during their relationship.

Haynesworth, who played college football at Tennessee and in the NFL for the Washington Redskins and Tennessee Titans, accused former Lady Vols basketball player Brittany Jackson of racially and physically abusing him during their relationship. Jackson is the mother of Haynesworth's son, Ayden.

Haynesworth, who is black, made the allegations during a series of tweets Wednesday, saying Jackson, who is white, called him the "n-word" on "numerous occasions." He also tweeted that Jackson was "extremely violent," and that police had been called to "restrain her" 10 different times.

"Not only has she called me unthinkable names she has been extremely violent where more than 10 times in Tennessee and Florida I, me, Albert called the police to restrain her. Yes I have witnesses and bruises but me for some reason still tried to protect her by not sending her to jail (because) I didn't want to ruin her so called career and name," Haynesworth tweeted.

TMZ reported that the drama between Haynesworth and Jackson "went public Wednesday when she accused him of skipping out on child support for their young son."

The Knoxville News Sentinel reported that police were called to a home in Southeast Knox County on Jan. 10, with Haynesworth alleging that Jackson kicked him in the groin on two occasions during an argument. However, Jackson left the house before police arrived, and Haynesworth didn't file charges.

Jackson pleaded guilty to simple assault in 2010 after a fight with her sister on the campus of Tennessee Wesleyan College. She also has a DUI charge on her record.

In 2011, Haynesworth was charged with simple assault for a road rage incident in Reston, Va., where he allegedly punched the driver of another vehicle after being on the receiving end of a hand gesture.

Haynesworth also pleaded no contest to charges that he sexually assaulted a woman in Washington. He took part in alcohol-abuse and psychological-social assessments and performed community service in lieu of a trial.

Haynesworth was a 2002 first-round selection out of Tennessee and played his first seven seasons with the Titans, recording 24 sacks. He turned consecutive selections as a first-team All-Pro player into a free-agent jackpot, signing with the Redskins on a seven-year, $100 million deal in 2009.

After being a free-agent bust in Washington, Haynesworth finished his 10-year career in 2011 following short stints with the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He had 347 career tackles and 30.5 sacks in 123 games.
