Sept. 19 (UPI) -- Another fantasy football week is in the books, and with that there were inevitably more big injuries. That opens the door for lesser-known players who could instantly improve your fantasy football squad.

Seattle Seahawks running back Chris Carson should be your top waiver wire pickup for Week 3. Carson excelled in the Seattle offense last weekend and looks to have taken over lead back duties from Thomas Rawls and Eddie Lacy. Although the Seahawks' line hasn't looked great, Carson still manages to have value.

Here are my other top players to add and top players to drop for Week 3.

ALL-ADD TEAM

QB | Trevor Siemian; RB | Chris Carson, Javorius Allen, Chris Johnson; WR | J.J. Nelson, Jermaine Kearse, Willie Snead; TE | Dwayne Allen, Benjamin Watson; D/ST | Miami Dolphins; K | Phil Dawson

HONORABLE MENTIONS

QB | Jacoby Brissett; RB | Chris Thompson, Samaje Perine, Giovani Bernard; WR | Devin Funchess; TE | Ed Dickson; D/ST | Dallas Cowboys

TOP DROPS

QB | Joe Flacco, Case Keenum; RB | Adrian Peteerson, Eddie Lacy; WR | Corey Coleman; TE | Greg Olsen

QUARTERBACK

You probably don't want to be in the situation where you need to add Trevor Siemian this early in this season, but he has looked great through two weeks. The Denver Broncos gunslinger has the advantage of a good running game and stellar wide receivers. He has six passing touchdowns, one interception, 450 yards and a rushing score through two weeks. You could do much worse if you are streaming quarterbacks in a deep league or need some production out of the spot this week. The Broncos battle the Buffalo Bills this Sunday and Siemian should be in for another multi-touchdown pass day. Siemian is worth a look in teams with 14 teams or more.

RUNNING BACK

Carson is that rare early-season waiver pickup who could have season-long value. It doesn't look like Thomas Rawls and Eddie Lacy were the answer for the Seattle Seahawks. Carson had 100 yards on 21 touches in Week 2. Look for Pete Carroll to hand the ball off to the rookie again Sunday against the Titans, a team that has allowed 264 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown on 56 touches through two weeks to opposing running backs.

If Carson is already gone, I would prioritize Javorius Allen in your waiver claims. The Baltimore Ravens host the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 3 and I expect plenty of use from Allen. The dynamic third-year back had 101 yards from scrimmage on 19 touches last Sunday against the Cleveland Browns. He had 71 rushing yards in Week 1 against the Cincinnati Bengals. Jacksonville allowed the fifth-most rushing scores to running backs last year. I expect an RB2 effort from Allen in Week 3.

WIDE RECEIVER

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver J.J. Nelson has been very underrated during his young NFL career. The burner piled up six scores last season and has averaged nearly 19 yards per reception in 28 career contests. He should be a great addition to your bench and a fill in starter during bye weeks and in good matchups. I expect some WR3 production from Nelson in the following weeks as Carson Palmer will likely be forced to throw to keep the Cardinals in games. Nelson has scored in both of the Cardinals' wins this season and has 10 receptions for 163 yards to go along with that. This week the Cardinals host the Dallas Cowboys, a team that has already allowed four touchdowns to opposing wide receivers.

TIGHT END

Dwayne Allen should have use in leagues where you have to start a tight end. With Rob Gronkowski dealing with a groin injury, the New England Patriots could opt to rest their superstar and get Allen some play. He would immediately be a fringe TE1 for me in Week 3. Allen does not have a catch yet this season but Tom Brady could look his way as he is one of the more experienced targets that could be available for the Patriots if Gronkowski is out.
