Fantasy Football: New York Giants' Odell Beckham Jr. in 'real doubt' to play vs. Dallas Cowboys

Sept. 10 (UPI) -- Yes, Odell Beckham Jr. flew with the New York Giants to Dallas, but there is doubt about his availability for Sunday's game.

Sources told ESPN that "there is real doubt" about whether Beckham will play in the 8:30 p.m. contest at AT&T Stadium Sunday night against the Dallas Cowboys. Sources told NFL Network that Beckham is a game-time decision, but there is more optimism today than there was on Friday.

He is officially listed as questionable.

Beckham is dealing with a high-ankle and did not practice this week for the Giants. Typical high ankle sprains take four-to-six weeks to heal.

NFL Network reported the Giants aren't "counting on" Beckham to play and that he is a "long shot" for the contest. That report also stated that Beckham is undergoing constant rehab and will "give it a shot on the field tonight."

"Thirteen is in there getting treatment," Giants coach Ben McAdoo told reporters Friday. "Odell [Beckham] is getting treatment. We will see how he responds. He is going to do all of his work with the training staff today and we'll see how he responds tomorrow. We have a chance for a launch day tomorrow."

On Thursday, Giants offensive coordinator Mike Sullivan told reporters that other players have to step up.

"Well he is obviously a great player and other guys are going to have to step up there," Sullivan said when asked how the game plan would change with or without Beckham.

"There are some concepts that we felt really good about both in the run and the pass game. We are going to move forward in that direction and we will see what happens in whether he gets to play or not."

But those betting on the fantasy football stage want to be a bit more strategic.

Because of Beckham's late game, you either have to start someone in his place before knowing his final status, have another player to replace him with on the Giants or Cowboys, or have a player from the Monday Night Football games. A useful trick in the meantime is moving Beckham into a WR/TE or flex spot in your lineup until you have more information. That way, if Beckham doesn't play, you aren't locked into only replacing him with a wide receiver.
