NFL teams must trim their rosters to 53 players by 4 p.m. ET Saturday.
Winston, who re-signed with the Bengals this offseason, was fighting for a backup spot on the Bengals' offensive line.
Winston, 33, has been with the Bengals since 2014 and appeared in 16 games last season, making two starts. He was re-elected in 2016 to a two-year term as the NFLPA's president.
Gilberry, 32, also re-signed with the Bengals during the offseason. He has 34 sacks in nine NFL seasons, including 2.5 in five games for the Bengals last season.
