Tony Romo: Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback welcomes third son

Aug. 24 (UPI) -- Instead of opening up Week 1 as the starting quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, Tony Romo is kicking off a new season of fatherhood.

The former Cowboys quarterback welcomed his third son Wednesday with wife Candice Crawford.

"Welcomed our third boy Jones Mccoy Romo into the world today!" Romo tweeted. " Ten fingers and ten toes. All healthy. Almost have my basketball team built."

Romo, 37, and Crawford also have Hawkins, 5, and Rivers, 3.

Crawford announced the pregnancy in February. The couple married in 2011 at Lee Park in Dallas. They were engaged in 2010.

Romo posted more pictures of the youngster Wednesday on Instagram.

"Scroll over to see his big brother Rivers excitement about this new baby," he wrote.

The videos featured his excited son Rivers dancing and kicking.

Crawford, 30, has been an actor, TV reporter and Miss USA contestant. Her brother is actor Chace Crawford.

Romo retired this offsesason and opted for a career in broadcasting. The 13-year NFL veteran made four Pro Bowls during his career. He is the Cowboys' all-time leading passer with 34,183 yards and 248 touchdown passes.

CBS' No. 1 analyst was expected to appear on Friday's 8 p.m. preseason broadcast between the Kansas City Chiefs and Seattle Seahawks. 247 Sports reported that Romo will not appear on that broadcast after the birth of his son.

"I'm anxious and excited," Romo recently old the Dallas Morning News. "It's like my first start in the NFL. I want to see if I'm good enough."
