Last season he had 22 tackles, 3.5 sacks, a fumble recovery and a pass defended in 16 games for the Jaguars. In 2014, Marks led the Jaguars with a career-high 8.5 sacks. He started once last season and was released on March 9.

The 49ers also have DeForest Buckner, Earl Mitchell, Quinton Dial, Chris Jones and D.J. Jones at the position. Buckner, the No. 7 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, has been dealing with ankle issues this offseason. The 49ers signed Mitchell as a free agent in February. D.J. Jones joined the 49ers in the sixth round of the 2017 NFL Draft out of Mississippi. The 49ers also took Solomon Thomas with the No. 3 overall pick in this year's draft.
