The Tennessee Titans activated second-year wide receiver Tajae Sharpe from the physically unable to perform list on Monday.

Sharpe, 22, had been rehabbing since suffering a foot injury in June and undergoing surgery. He passed a physical Monday morning and was cleared to begin practicing with the team.

The 6-foot-2, 194-pound Sharpe, a fifth-round pick from Massachusetts, had 41 catches for 522 yards and two touchdowns during his rookie season in 2016, playing in all 16 games with 10 starts.

"We're going to take him out for a good workout and then discuss what we want to do with him,'' Titans coach Mike Mularkey said Sunday of Sharpe. "But he looks real good. Tajae has done everything above and beyond what we've asked him to do to come back from that injury."

Sharpe told the team's website recently he was anxious to return.

"I miss being out there with my teammates, just grinding through every day with them," Sharpe said. "That is what hurts the most, having to watch them grind day in and day out. But I have no choice but to be patient.

"I am feeling good, getting better and better every day. I'm just trying to take it a day at a time and trying to be patient. I know when I get out there I am going to go 110 percent, but I have to make sure I am 110 percent healthy first so when I get out there I am going to be ready."

The Titans also waived defensive lineman Mehdi Abdesmad on Monday. He signed with the Titans as a rookie free agent out of Boston College following the 2016 draft and spent the first 14 weeks on the team's practice squad before being elevated to the active roster.
