The 5-foot-8, 190-pound "Boom" Williams originally entered the NFL on May 5 as an undrafted free agent signing by the Cincinnati Bengals. He was waived on Sunday. Williams, 21, had 366 carries for 2,511 yards and 18 touchdowns on the ground in 33 games at the University of Kentucky. He also 292 yards and two touchdowns on 38 receptions for the Wildcats.

While C.J. Anderson currently tops the Broncos' depth chart at the position, Denver also has former All-Pro Jamaal Charles, Devontae Booker, De'Angelo Henderson and Stevan Ridley in its stable.

The Broncos had the No. 27 ranked rushing attack in the league last season. Pierce signed with the Broncos in January after working out for the New York Jets and Seattle Seahawks. He was cut by the Jets in August.
