Cincinnati Bengals cut DT Thompson, WR Hamilton and RB Williams

Aug. 20 (UPI) -- The Cincinnati Bengals have terminated the contract of Brandon Thompson, while waiving Karel Hamilton and Stanley Williams.

Cincinnati announced the moves on Sunday. Thompson, 27, played was a third round pick by the Bengals in the 2012 NFL Draft. He had 79 tackles and three sacks in 39 games for the Bengals. He also made seven starts.

The 6-foot-2, 314-pound defensive tackle entered the NFL out of Clemson.

Hamilton and Williams signed with the Bengals on May 5 as undrafted college free agents. Hamilton had 111 catches for 1,389 yards and 14 touchdowns last season for Samford. He was a first-team All-American. The 6-foot-1, 181-pound pass catcher was a Southern Conference All-Freshman team selection in 2013 and earned his first of three first-team All-SoCon selections in 2014.

Williams, 21, had 1,170 yards and seven touchdowns on 171 carries last season in 13 games at Kentucky.

On Saturday, the Bengals waived safety Cedric Thompson with an injury settlement.

Thompson signed with the Bengals on July 31 as a free agent. The Bengals lost its second preseason game 30-12 Saturday to the Kansas City Chiefs at Paul Brown Stadium. Cincinnati won its first preseason contest 23-12 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on August 11 in Cincinnati. The Bengals' next preseason contest is at 4:30 p.m. on August 27 against the Washington Redskins at FedEx Field in Landover, Md.
