Aug. 16 (UPI) -- All-Pro linebacker will stay with the Carolina Panthers through at least the 2018 season after signing a contract extension.

The Panthers announced the one-year deal on Tuesday. Davis, 34, made his second straight Pro Bowl last season after totaling 132 tackles, four passes defended, three interceptions, 2.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries, a forced fumble and a touchdown in 16 games. He has missed just once start since 2013. Davis has spent his entire 11-year career with the Panthers.

Davis' new deal is worth $6.75 million, according to multiple reports. About $3 million from that deal is guaranteed over the next two years.

"I'm extremely excited. Everybody knows how I feel about being a Carolina Panther," Davis said in a team release. "This extension solidifies me being here for the rest of my career, and I'm excited about that. Now it's totally focused on winning a Super Bowl."

Davis was the No. 14 overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft. He is the Panthers' franchise leader with 1,086 tackles. Last season he made his second straight Pro Bowl.

"Thomas is still playing fast and at a high-level, and the intensity and passion that he brings to the game is unmatched," Panthers linebackers coach Al Holcomb said in the release. "He is the ultimate leader, and to continue to have a player and a man of his magnitude on our team is extremely important. I'm excited for Thomas, his family and our organization."

Davis was the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year in 2014.
