Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Denzel Perryman is expected to miss at least a month due to an ankle injury suffered in the team's preseason opener.

Perryman was hurt in Sunday's 48-17 loss to the Seattle Seahawks and will be sidelined four to six weeks, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Monday.

The 24-year-old Perryman was carted to the locker room after he was injured in the first quarter against Seattle. He returned to the sideline on crutches and wearing a walking boot on his left foot.

Perryman started 11 of 12 games for the Chargers last season, registering 72 tackles with a pair of sacks and an interception. He had 72 tackles and two sacks as a rookie in 2015, appearing in 14 games and starting nine, after he was drafted in the second round out of Miami.

It marked the latest injury setback for the Chargers, who lost rookie guard Forrest Lamp -- this year's second-round draft pick -- to a torn ACL earlier this month.

Rookie wide receiver Mike Williams, the No. 7 overall draft pick, has been on the physically unable to perform list while dealing with a back injury.
