Riley had 83 catches for 1,579 yards and 13 scores in 42 games at San Diego. He had 24 tackles while playing defensive back during his first two seasons at the school.

The 6-foot-3, 190-pound undrafted free agent attended Colts rookie mini-camp on a tryout basis. Riley was a two-time All-Pioneer League selection during his tenure with the Toreros. He started all nine games of the 2016 season at the school, registering 797 yards and five scores on 39 receptions. He led the Toreros in receiving yards. In 2015, he had 782 yards and eight touchdowns on 44 catches.

He filled the roster spot for defensive end Kendall Langford. The nine-year NFL veteran failed his physical on Wednesday and was released by the franchise.

Langford was a third-round pick by the Miami Dolphins in the 2008 NFL Draft.

The Colts also signed free agent wide receiver Valdez Showers and running back George Winn on Wednesday. Indianapolis added Olympic sprinter Marvin Bracy to its wide receiver depth chart on Tuesday. The Colts now have T.Y. Hilton, Donte Moncrief, Chester Rogers, Phillip Dorsett, Kamar Aiken, Quan Bray, Showers, Bracy, Riley, Tevaun Smith, Fred Brown and Bug Howard at the position.
