Jacksonville Jaguars CB A.J. Bouye makes 5-foot box jump

By Alex Butler

Aug. 9 (UPI) -- Cornerback A.J. Bouye didn't leave his hops in Houston when he joined the Jacksonville Jaguars this offseason. He showed them off recently in a video.

The 25-year-old was the subject a clip posted by David Alexander of DBC Fitness in Miami.

In the short clip, Bouye squats behind a large pile of padded boxes. He then springs up and lands on top of the workout equipment.

"Jacksonville Jaguars CB @aj_bouye 1 stepping 60 inches at the end of his Plyo day. #LiteWork #WhereDoYouTrain," Alexander posted on the Instagram video.

Bouye does the jump twice, with ease. The Jaguars defender joined the franchise in March on a five-year, $67.5 million contract. The 6-foot, 186-pound defender is entering his fifth NFL season. Bouye had 62 tackles, 16 passes defended, an interception and a sack in 15 games last season. Houston owned the No. 2 pass defense in the NFL last season while the Jaguars ranked No. 5.

Bouye talked to reporters about his fitness last week at training camp.

"It's a little more difficult [to take care of your body at this time of year] because you don't really have time, so you have to find that extra stuff you can do, even if it's just five or ten minutes, but at the same time, in this facility, the strength coaches have given us like an hour just to foam roll, do stuff with the regeneration session," Bouye told reporters.

Jacksonville kicks off the preseason with a 7:30 p.m. game Thursday against the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. The Jaguars took part in joint practice with the Patriots this offseason.
