Johnny Manziel wants to be a coach. At least that is what he said while speaking at the International Football Betting Conference in Costa Rica on Monday.

"I'd do something involved with sports. I can't get away from it," Manziel said, per ESPN. "I've had to ask myself that a little bit as of late over the past year, but at the same time I'd want to be involved in sports in some way, whether it's coaching, whether it's doing something like that. So I think that'd be my route."

Asked the level he would like to coach, Manziel said, "Probably college."

Manziel, who won the Heisman Trophy in 2012 as a redshirt freshman at Texas A&M, had a number of off-field incidents that affected his public image. He also failed to play effectively in limited opportunities with the Cleveland Browns after being a first-round draft choice.

He completed 57 percent of his passes with seven touchdowns and seven interceptions in 15 games, including eight starts, for the Browns in 2014 and 2015. He was released by Cleveland and has not played since.

Manziel told the Dallas Morning News in July that he spoke to several NFL teams during the offseason, claiming he was "optimistic" he would get to play in the NFL again.

Manziel was a coach at an Elite 11 quarterback camp in Miami in February. He also assisted at the Manning Passing Academy, hosted by Eli and Peyton Manning, in 2013. However, he was dismissed from the latter after missing meetings and practices.
