Aug. 7 (UPI) -- Vince Wilfork announced his retirement the same way he did everything during his 13-year career: in large scale. The defensive tackle released a video Monday.
Wilfork, 35, tweeted the video at noon Monday in coordination with his sponsorship with Kingsford.
"Well y'all - it's been a great run, but the time has come," Wilfork tweeted.
"No more cleats. I'm moving on to smoke meats fellas. Peace out. I'm outta here. Later."
"Thought it was over, huh? I'll be back. But not on that field. Peace out."
Wilfork was a five-time Pro Bowl selection and an All-Pro in 2012. He also won two Super Bowls with the Patriots.
In June, Wilfork told Barstool Sports that Patriots coach Bill Belichick used to motivate him with food. Wilfork was recently part of a petition with Kingsford to try to make ribs the national food of America.
Wilfork is listed at 6-foot-2, 325 pounds.
