Aug. 4 (UPI) -- The Chicago Bears signed running back Joshua Rounds and waived rookie Joel Bouagnon.
Chicago announced the corresponding moves on Thursday.
Rounds had 1,168 yards and eight scores on 226 carries in four seasons for Tulane. The undrafted free agent also had 288 yards on 40 receptions and returned 29 kickoffs for 516 yards for the Green Wave.
He averaged 6.1 yards per carry last season.
Bouagnon signed in May with the Bears as an undrafted rookie free agent. He had 885 rushing yards and eight scores in 2016 for Northern Illinois, earning second-team All-MAC honors. He was waived with an injury designation.
Rounds enters a running backs room including: Jordan Howard, Tarik Cohen, Ka'Deem Carey and Benny Cunningham.
Howard was second in the NFL with 1,313 rushing yards last season. Despite his strong rookie campaign, the Bears ranked No. 17 in rushing in 2016.
The Bears have practice on Friday and Saturday before their Sunday off day. They face the Denver Broncos in their first preseason contest on Aug. 10.
Chicago promoted former director of pro scouting Champ Kelly on June 29 to his new position of assistant director of player personnel. Chris White was also elevated to pro scout and Scott Hamel was promoted to area scout, while Brendan Rehor became combine scout for the Bears.
