Arizona Cardinals sign LB Tevin Floyd, cut C Lucas Crowley

July 22 (UPI) -- Linebacker Tevin Floyd is officially became a member of the Arizona Cardinals.

The franchise announced that it signed The Citadel product on Saturday. The Cardinals also released center Lucas Crowley in a corresponding move.

Floyd had 86 tackles and two sacks last season for The Citadel. He also had 8.5 takedowns for a loss. Floyd totaled 295 tackles in 49 career games for the Bulldogs. The 6-foot-1, 238 pound rookie free agent was first-team All-Southern Conference in 2016. He participated in Cardinals rookie minicamp in May.

Crowley was an undrafted free agent and signed with the Cardinals after the draft. He was second-team All-ACC at North Carolina and was ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week three times last year.

Floyd joins a group of linebackers including Deone Bucannon, Karlos Dansby, Hasson Reddick, Chandler Jones, Markus Golden, Jarvis Jones, Gabe Martin, Kareem Martin, Zaviar Gooden and Cap Capi on Arizona's depth chart.

The Cardinals start the season on Sept. 10 against the Detroit Lions at Ford Field in Detroit. Arizona starts their preseason schedule on Aug. 3 against the Dallas Cowboys in the Hall of Fame game at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio.

Arizona reported to training camp on Friday and had their first practice Saturday at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz.
