July 20 (UPI) -- The Carolina Panthers continue to make moves despite recently firing their general manager. On Thursday the franchise extended guard Trai Turner.

Turner, 24, was the No. 92 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. The third-rounder out of LSU started nine games during his rookie campaign. Turner has started every game since that season, earning two trips to the Pro Bowl.

He signed with Rosenhaus Sports in February.

"Beyond excited today!! Thank you to Mr. Richardson and the Panther family, I'll be a Panther for 4 more years!!! #KeepPounding #SvckaFree," Turner tweeted Thursday afternoon.

A source told NFL Network that Turner's four-year extension is worth $45 million and has $20.5 million guaranteed. Turner's extension included a $15 million signing bonus, according to sources.

The Panthers fired general manager Dave Gettleman on Monday and hired former general manager Marty Hurney as their interim general manager on Wednesday.

Carolina also released Michael Oher Thursday. Left guard Andrew Norwell is playing on a one-year deal worth $2.7 million this season and could also be on deck for a longer deal. Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis is also playing on the final year of his contract. The veteran defender offered a congratulatory message to his younger teammate.

"Congrats to my lil homie @trai_turner on a much deserved contract extension!! #Suckafree #KeepPounding," Davis tweeted.

Detroit Lions tight end Eric Ebron asked Turner if he could "hold $1."

The Panthers are also in talks to extend veteran tight end Greg Olsen, who hasn't ruled out a training camp holdout if he doesn't get a new deal.

Olsen is also represented by Drew Rosenhaus.
