Former coach Brian Billick joins Baltimore Ravens' preseason broadcast crew

July 13 (UPI) -- Brian Billick won a Super Bowl in 2001 with the Baltimore Ravens. Now he's joining the team's preseason broadcast team.

"Preseason is an exciting time," Billick said. "It is all about the players. It's about the emotion and what they're going through and the pressures they encounter. I think training camp and the preseason are very compelling."

Billick, 63, will join WBAL-TV 11 sports director and "Voice of the Ravens" Gerry Sandusky for each of the Ravens' four preseason games. CBS Sports' Evan Washburn will report from the sidelines during the broadcasts.

"From a successful coaching career to his extensive involvement analyzing NFL games, Brian brings a unique insight that our fans will enjoy," Ravens president Dick Cass said. His ability to share past experiences as a coach and communicate in a captivating manner makes him an outstanding partner for Gerry, who is regarded as one of the NFL's best play-by-play talents."

The broadcasts, produced by the Emmy Award-winning Ravens productions, will simulcast on WBAL-TV 11 and WBAL 1090 and 98 Rock radio in Baltimore. They can also bee seen in six other TV markets and heard on 23 affiliates.

Billick, Sandusky and Washburn have impressive Super Bowl credentials. Billick coached the Ravens' Super Bowl XXXV victory, while Sandusky was the play-by-play voice for a Super Bowl in 2012. Washburn was a sideline reporter for a Super Bowl in 2015.

Billick posted an 80-64 record with the Ravens. He left the team after the 2007 season and worked as a color commentator for Fox-TV from 2008 through 2013. He joined NFL Network as an analyst in 2009, where he still appears on NFL GameDay First and NFL Total Access.
