Free agent RB DeAngelo Williams lists four teams he won't play for

July 12 (UPI) -- Running back DeAngelo Williams is currently unemployed when it comes to the NFL, but he has ruled out playing for four franchises.

Williams told ESPN that he won't play for the Cleveland Browns, Dallas Cowboys, Jacksonville Jaguars or his former team, the Carolina Panthers.

The 34-year-old running back is entering his 12th NFL season. Not playing in a few of those cities makes sense, as they already have feature backs and enough depth.

The Cowboys are returning the NFL rushing champion in Ezekiel Elliott and still have Darren McFadden and Alfred Morris as backups. But that spot would become more interesting if Elliott is disciplined by the NFL. He is currently under league investigation regarding domestic violence allegations.

The Jacksonville Jaguars just used the No. 4 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft to take Leonard Fournette out of LSU. Carolina also took a first-round running back in Christian McCaffrey and has Jonathan Stewart, Fozzy Whittaker and Cameron Artis-Payne on its roster.

Although the Browns make a bit more sense, the team still has Isaiah Crowell leading its backfield, with Duke Johnson and George Atkinson III behind him on the depth chart. Williams also cited the Jaguars' and Browns' lack of winning as the reason he wouldn't end up in either city.

He said his childhood fandom of the San Francisco 49ers was one of the reasons he couldn't play for Dallas. He also ripped the Cowboys' postseason history.

"They don't ever show up during the playoffs. They always disappear in the playoffs," he told ESPN.

Williams recently participated in a wrestling match with Impact Wrestling. But he doesn't appear to want a career in that arena over his pursuit of gridiron glory.

A Twitter user mocked Williams for having to compete for a third-string job, but Williams responded with a nod to how much he would be paid for that job.

"Not sure why that's funny," Williams said. "Have u seen the salaries of a 3rd stringer?"

For perspective on Williams' comment about salary, Morris is due $1 million from the Cowboys next season, while McFadden has $900,000 headed his way. Both are slotted for backup roles to Elliott.

Williams made about $2 million annually serving as Le'Veon Bell's backup in Pittsburgh. He was widely considered one of the best backup running backs in the NFL during that tenure.

The No. 27 overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft made the Pro Bowl once (2009) and rushed for 343 yards and four touchdowns in his final season for the Pittsburgh Steelers. His best season came in 2008 for the Panthers, when he had 1,636 yards from scrimmage and 20 touchdowns.
