June 30 (UPI) -- NFL MVP Matt Ryan will forever be motivated by his Super Bowl loss, according to a new Gatorade commercial.

Ryan is one of several star athletes to star in the sports drink spot.

The ad begins with Michael Jordan asking: "Do you want to know what the secret to victory is?"

The greatest basketball player of all time answers the question while sitting in his old gym at Laney High School in Wilmington, N.C.

"Fail to make the varsity team," said Jordan, who didn't make the cut at the school during his sophomore year.

"Start your career as a walk-on," Houston Texans All-Pro defensive end J.J. Watt said.

Watt left a scholarship at Central Michigan in order to deliver pizzas and walk on at the University of Wisconsin.

"Go 3-13 your rookie season," future Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning said.

"Lead the league in interceptions," New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning said.

"Take a perfect team, and blow a perfect season," Minnesota Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns said.

Towns was a member of the 2014 Kentucky Wildcats. That team went 38-0, before losing to Wisconsin in the Final Four.

"Spend 108 years as a lovable loser," said Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Schwarber, who was recently demoted to the minors.

"Be on the wrong side of the biggest upset in your sport," Serena Williams said.

A top-ranked Williams lost in the 2016 U.S. Open to No. 11 Karolina Pliskova. She held the No. 1 spot in the world rankings for 186 weeks, one week shy of the record.

"You really want to know the secret to victory?" Jordan asked.

"Defeat," Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan said. Ryan is shown walking off the field at the Super Bowl, while announcers talk about his team giving up a 28-3 lead to the New England Patriots.

The video ends with Ryan showing off his training, completing passes and doing agility drills.
