Former Green Bay Packers RB Ahman Green arrested on child abuse charge

June 26 (UPI) -- Green Bay Packers Hall of Famer Ahman Green was arrested this weekend on suspicion of child abuse.

The Brown County Sheriff's Office told the Green Bay Press-Gazette that Green was arrested at 11:30 p.m. at his home.

He was in the Brown County jail on Monday morning with a charge of "child abuse-intentionally cause harm/cruelty toward child," according to the Brown County jail website.

Green, 40, is the Packers' franchise leader in rushing yards. He was a four-time Pro Bowl selection. Green was inducted into the Packers Hall of Fame in 2014.

Green is married. He is currently being held without bond until he sees a judge.

The former football star is represented by Lammi Sports Management.

Green began his career with the Seattle Seahawks after being picked in the third round of the 1998 NFL Draft. He never started a game for the Seahawks, before joining the Packers in 2000. Green's best season came in 2003, when he plowed for 1,883 rushing yards and 15 scores, averaging 5.3 yard per carry. He totaled 2,250 yards from scrimmage and 20 touchdowns that season. Green played two seasons for the Houston Texans in 2007 and 2008 before finishing his 12-year career in 2009 with the Packers.
