Martellus Bennett picks Aaron Rodgers over Tom Brady, Jay Cutler over Eli Manning

By Alex Butler

June 24 (UPI) -- Tight end Martellus Bennett ranks Aaron Rodgers No. 1 and Tom Brady No. 2 when it comes to NFL quarterbacks he has played with.

He revealed his rankings of the gunslingers Friday on NFL Network.

"Tom is arguably the greatest to ever play the game," Bennett said on NFL Total Access. "A great teacher, a great teammate, great person," Bennett said. "But I just learned a lot about football just from him. He taught me so much more. I'm a way better player this year than last year after leaving the Patriots. I thought I grew as a player a lot just learning how to play and being in a role."

Bennett had 701 yards and seven touchdowns on 55 catches last season for the New England Patriots. He also won his first Super Bowl ring.

"With playing with Tom, it was a lot of coaching -- like little things," Bennett said on NFL Total Access. "Like the way he wanted you to get your head around quicker because he wants to get the ball out of his hands a little bit faster. So usually if I'm running a deep over route and I'm catching it 17 yards on the number on the other side, with Tom, he might throw it in between the 'backers. So if there's a little opening, he's ready to let it go right there. Just trying to see the game how he sees the game."

"And with Aaron, his ball is a little bit different. He's a little more athletic, and he can whip things a little bit different, you know. So he doesn't have to set his feet all the way to throw the ball 80 yards or anything like that. But me and him, it's all the same thing. Like, my body language is totally different for him."

Bennett ranked Jay Cutler No. 3, Eli Manning No. 4 and Tony Romo No. 5.

Rodgers, 33, completed 65.7 percent of his passes last season for 4,428 yards and a league-high 40 touchdowns. Brady, 39, completed a career-best 67.4 percent of his passes for 3,554 yards and 28 scores, against just two interceptions.

The 2014 Pro Bowl selection was also asked if he could design a cake that was like Rodgers, what kind of cake would it be?

"Ummm...I think he would be a pound cake with a little bit of glaze on it," Bennett said. "Because a pound cake is a pound of butter, a pound of milk, and a pound of flour."

"And he's just the pound-for-pound greatest."

Rodgers had some nice things to say about his new target last month at OTAs.

"He cares about dominating," Rodgers said, according to Packers.com. "He brings that grit and that attitude to the field where he wants to dominate the guy over him, whether he's blocking or catching passes."

"I think he's going to bring some extreme confidence to the locker room, which we need."
