INDIANAPOLIS -- Coach Chuck Pagano continues to stress that there is no timetable for when quarterback Andrew Luck will be cleared to return to on-field workouts with the Indianapolis Colts. Luck underwent right shoulder surgery following then 2016 season and has not been able to participate in OTA or mini-camp workouts.

"Am I hopeful (that Luck will be ready to return for the start of training camp)? Am I praying? Yeah. But there is no timetable," Pagano said.

The Colts coach added that when Luck is able to resume on-field work, the quarterback will start out on a pitch count. Pagano said he has "no idea" how long it will take Luck to knock the rust off when he is cleared to begin throwing again.

Luck has been doing some coaching during OTA workouts, working with the team's young wide receivers. Expect that to continue during this week's mini-camp practices.

He said after Tuesday's mini-camp practice that he has not looked ahead to training camp. Luck hopes to be ready to practice. He is not looking too far ahead and is approaching the next step of his rehab process, which would entail throwing the ball.

His message to fans? "They don't need to have any concerns about their quarterback. It'll be all right," Luck said.

At the beginning of OTA work early last month, it had appeared as if Luck had lost some weight since the end of last season. He admitted Tuesday that he had dropped 15 pounds during the offseason but has since regained 10-to-12 pounds of it back. Luck said that he wants to add "a few more pounds" before he will feel like he is at his usual regular season playing weight.
