San Francisco 49ers officially sign LB Elvis Dumervil

In a move that was unofficially announced Monday via social media, the San Francisco 49ers officially confirmed Thursday that they signed linebacker Elvis Dumervil to a two-year deal.

"Elvis is a proven pass rusher in this league whose credentials speak for themselves," said 49ers general manager John Lynch. "We are ecstatic to add another piece to what we feel is shaping up to be a formidable defensive front."

Dumervil, a 33-year-old who has been named to five Pro Bowls, was originally drafted by the Denver Broncos in the fourth round in 2006. Following seven years (2006-12) with Denver, he signed with the Baltimore Ravens on March 26, 2013, where he spent the past four seasons (2013-16). He has appeared in 146 games (99 starts) in his career and registered 389 tackles, 99.0 sacks, 24 forced fumbles, 17 passes defensed, 13 fumble recoveries and one interception. In addition, he has also appeared in five postseason games (three starts) and tallied nine tackles, 3.5 sacks and one forced fumble.

To make room on the roster, the 49ers waived offensive lineman Evan Goodman, who signed with the team as an undrafted rookie free agent from Arizona State University on May 4.
