June 8 (UPI) -- Members of the New Orleans Saints "have gushed" about Adrian Peterson during OTAs.

The New Orleans Advocate reported Wednesday that Peterson's teammates are "marveling over his burst and stride length."

Peterson signed with the Saints in April. The 32-year-old plans to play out his current two year deal, and possibly stay in the NFL even longer.

"In my mind, I feel like I have a lot of years left," he told the team website in May.

He told reporters Wednesday that he could play for five more years.

"I'd be lying to you say it doesn't give you a chip [on your shoulder]. Especially being a competitor," Peterson told the Advocate. "It's not my main focus. It's something that drives you a little bit. After 30, because it was the same back then. 'Oh, he's 30.' Then I ended up leading the league in 2015. Same thing the next year. Stuff will continue to repeat itself until I finish."

Peterson is expected to split carries with Mark Ingram, with rookie Alvin Kamar possibly carving out a complementary role. Something that could keep the veteran on the field however, is his work as a pass catcher. Peterson, who has 1,945 career receiving yards, was working on those skills at Thursday's practice. Ingram sat out of the workout session.

Peterson is entering his 11th pro season and needs just 253 rushing yards and three touchdowns to reach 12,000 yards and 100 scores for his career.
