NASHVILLE -- While the injury rehab of quarterback Marcus Mariota is first and foremost on all Tennessee Titans' fans' minds, he is not the only Titans player trying to make it back from a leg injury in time for training camp.

Defensive end Karl Klug, who re-signed with the club in the offseason, is coming back from surgery on his left Achilles last December, an injury that ended his season two weeks before the regular season came to a close.

Klug isn't participating in organized team activities, as the Titans are still having him rehab the injury. However, he is getting better and hopes to be ready to go by the time training camp opens - though that it not a definite either.

Klug is running and doing take-offs from his stance as part of his comeback from the surgery.

"I'm just trying to win each day and get better each week. I've been running the last couple of weeks, doing sprints, some get-offs and stuff like that," Klug said.

Klug has slowly and steadily increased his rehab this offseason with the hope of being back in the not too distant future.

"It's coming along good. I"m doing more and more each week. I don't enjoy watching practice. It's not fun, so I'm definitely looking forward to getting back with the guys," he said. "I can't really speak on that fully, but it would be nice to be back by camp, for sure."

In addition to Klug, nose tackle Sylvester Williams (ankle), tight end Tim Semisch (knee) and linebacker Kevin Dodd (foot) have also been on the shelf for most of the offseason work as well. Backup quarterback Matt Cassel (thumb) is out for six weeks after having surgery on the thumb of his throwing hand.

On Tuesday, running back DeMarco Murray and wide receiver Tajae Sharpe were both absent from practice as well. Titans head coach Mike Mularkey did not address the media after Tuesday's work, so the Titans did not disclose the reasons for the absences of Murray and Sharpe.
