May 17 (UPI) -- Tom Brady didn't miss any action due to injury last season, but he did have a concussion, his wife, Gisele Bundchen, said Wednesday.

Bundchen discussed the New England Patriots quarterback's health in an interview with Charlie Rose on CBS This Morning.

"The thing is...I have to tell you," Bundchen said. "I just have to say as a wife, as you know it's not the most unaggressive sport...football. He had a concussion last year. I mean he has concussions pretty much...we don't talk about. But he does have concussions. I don't really think it's a healthy thing for your body to go through that kind of aggression all the time. That cannot be healthy for you."

Brady hasn't missed a game from injury since 2008, but the brutal nature of the sport does concern his wife. He missed four games in 2016 due to a suspension from Deflategate.

"If it was up to my wife, she would have me retire today," Brady said in an interview the day after his Super Bowl LI victory against the Atlanta Falcons. "She told me that [Sunday] night three times. And I said, 'Too bad, babe, I'm having too much fun right now.'"

Brady, 39, is showing few signs of slowing down. His 466 yards in February were a Super Bowl record. He clinched another record by winning his fourth Super Bowl MVP award. His touchdown-to-interception ratio during the regular season was the best in NFL history. Brady turns 40 in August, but has says he could play well into his 40s.

Patriots owner Robert Kraft told reporters in March that Brady told him he could play six or "seven more years."

Brady signed a contract extension with the franchise last year. He is signed for $1 million next season, but will make $14 million in 2018 and 2019. The 17-year NFL veteran is also known for his health off the field, maintaining a strict plant-based diet.

"He said he has been feeling so much better," Bundchen told Rose. "I have to say it's amazing. The way he feels. He doesn't feel achy. He just feels so much more energy."

Bundchen said the idea for the diet came from her.

While the Patriots and Brady continue extension talks, it is unknown how his tenure with the franchise will end. Brady's father told NFL Network in 2015 that he expects the union to "end badly" because his son "wants to play till he's 70."

Brady is No. 4 all time in passing yards (a little more than 10,500 yards behind No. 1 Peyton Manning). His 456 career passing touchdowns are also No. 4 all time. He trails Manning in that category by 83 scores.
