May 8 (UPI) -- Big hats, mint juleps and Tom Brady. Those are quickly becoming the staples of Churchill Downs for the annual Kentucky Derby in Louisville.
Brady didn't show up to this year's derby in a hot air balloon, like he did for the 2014 Barnstable Brown Kentucky Derby Gala, but he didn't disappoint in the fashion department. In 2014, several Patriots players attended the derby and the Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao fight in the same day, taking a private jet to do so.
There was no big bout to get to after "The Greatest Two Minutes in Sports" this time around, making it a runway for many high profile athletes. Nearly all of them were clad in spectacular outfits for the occasion.
The New England Patriots legend kept it simple and classy with his attire at the Kentucky glamour event. He sported a beige hat with a solid black suit coat and a navy dress shirt, with some sharp sunglasses to accessorize.
He might have been upstaged by former Boston Red Sox star David Ortiz, whom he posted an Instagram photo with. Ortiz sported a pinstriped navy and baby blue blazer with a navy fedora featuring a gold band. He also wore a busy bowtie.
The Super Bowl champion quarterback posted several pictures from the event, with teammates and Hall of Fame wide receiver Jerry Rice. Patriots past and present lined up to get in pictures with the gunslinger, including: Mike Vrabel, Julian Edelman, Wes Welker, Danny Amendola, Jacoby Brissett, Jimmy Garoppolo,
Other athletes attending the event and sporting their best threads included: Aaron Rodgers, Fred McGriff, DeMarco Murray, Tony Romo, Jason Witten, Justin Thomas, Rickie Fowler, Jimmy Walker, Rick Pitino, Nerlens Noel and more.
Fowler might have won the fashion show. The PGA stud flashed a brilliant bright pink sport coat with white and blue horses running on it. He also wore bright green pants and a matching tie.
Always Dreaming edged Lookin at Lee to win the 143rd edition of the derby. He won the race by two-and-three quarter lengths. Always Dreaming, ridden by John Velazquez, has now won three consecutive races heading into the May 20 Preakness Stakes in Baltimore.
