Police: New York Jets WR Anderson pushed officer

May 8 (UPI) -- Miami police arrested wide receiver Robby Anderson during the Rolling Loud Festival.

The 23-year-old New York Jets pass catcher was charged with obstructing a police officer and resisting an officer with violence to his person, according to the police report. The latter count is considered a felony.

He was arrested at 6:20 p.m. at Bayfront Park at 400 Biscayne Blvd. in downtown Miami. According to the report, Anderson was fighting with security after being told to leave the music festival. After being told to sit on the ground, Anderson "tensed his body and pushed" a police officer. The report said Anderson was then redirected to the ground and continued to fight with police and security at the event.

Resisting an officer with violence to his person is a third-degree felony and punishable by up to five years in prison, five years probation and a $5,000 fine.

Anderson signed with the Jets in 2016 as an undrafted free agent. He played in 16 games last season, starting eight contests. The Temple product and Miami native had 587 yards and two touchdowns on 42 receptions in 2016. Anderson signed a three-year, $1.62 million contract last offseason with the Jets. He is due $540,000 this season and $630,000 in 2018, before becoming a restricted free agent in 2019. He was expected to be the Jets' No. 3 wide receiver this season, behind Eric Decker and Quincy Enunwa.

The Rolling Loud Festival was held Friday through Sunday and featured headlining performances from Kendrick Lamar, Future, Lil Wayne, A$AP Rocky, Travis Scott, Young Thug, Mac Miller and Guccie Mane.

"We are aware of the situation," a Jets spokesperson told NJ Advance Media. "This is a pending legal matter, and we will have no further comment at this time."

Anderson attended South Plantation High School in Broward County. He is scheduled to have a pre-file conference on May 15. In a pre-file conference, prosecutors speak to the investigating officer, victim and witnesses and review available forensic reports.

The Jets begin OTAs on May 23.
