The New York Jets released Marcus Gilchrist on Thursday after selecting two fellow safeties in the 2017 NFL draft.
Gilchrist saw his 2016 season come to an end in Week 14 after sustaining a ruptured patellar tendon. The 28-year-old collected 55 tackles and two interceptions in 13 games.
Gilchrist played in 29 contests since signing with the Jets prior to the 2015 season. He was set to make $6 million in salary this coming season.
New York selected LSU's Jamal Adams with the sixth overall pick and Florida's Marcus Maye in the second round of the draft.
