April 10 (UPI) -- LSU running back Leonard Fournette is shooting up draft boards and could be an option for the Cleveland Browns' top pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.

CBS Sports reported Monday that the elite prospect could go in the top five. While the report specifies that the Browns will most likely still select Texas A&M defensive end Myles Garrett, unnamed sources told CBS Sports that Fournette is "even in play" for the top overall pick.

The Carolina Panthers have also been linked to the All-American and are reportedly looking to move up from its current draft slot at No. 8, via trade. Fournette, Stanford's Christian McCaffrey and Florida State's Dalvin Cook have all been going in the first round in various mock drafts compiled by NFL analysts.

Fournette has also been linked to the New York Jets, Baltimore Ravens and Jacksonville Jaguars. He wowed scouts with his 4.51-second 40-yard dash on Wednesday at LSU pro day. The former Tigers star weighed in at 228 pounds at the university-hosted workout after hitting the scales at 240 pounds at the March scouting combine.
