Pittsburgh Steelers' Martavis Bryant to be reinstated

March 30 (UPI) -- Deep threat Martavis Bryant is returning to the NFL.

The Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver has been sidelined at times in the last two seasons after being suspended twice for violating the NFL's substance abuse police.

Last year Bryant missed the entire season as a result of failing six drug tests. The 25-year-old's return is now "imminent," according to the Beaver County Times. The Houston Chronicle's Aaron Wilson took a more tempered approach to Bryant's return, saying he has not yet been reinstated but is "eventually" expected to return.

Bryant has been posting workout videos on his social media accounts. He still appears to be in good shape and running well. In 21 career games, Bryant has 1,314 yards, 14 touchdowns, and 76 receptions. He has yet to play a full season since being picked up in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft.

Steelers president Art Rooney II told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette last month that the franchise couldn't rely on the wide receiver.

"I'm not sure at this point you can count on him," Rooney told Gary Dulac.

The Times reported that Bryant's agents say he is in "excellent condition" and has put on 25 pounds of muscle. His girlfriend also gave birth to his third child this offseason.

Earlier this month, Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert spoke about the wide receiver in the past tense when he told reporters at the NFL Combine that: "Martavis (Bryant) was a great asset to us when he was available."

Bryant will be 60 days removed from applying for reinstatement. He is playing on the final year of a four-year, $2.7 million contract.
