March 28 (UPI) -- Veteran gunslinger Jay Cutler lost his job and his clothes this offseason.

The former Chicago Bears quarterback is on vacation this week with wife Kristin Cavallari in Tulum, Mexico. One photo posted by Cavallari showed Cutler wearing only a watch and a bracelet.

"Good times, no tan lines. Let the sea set you free" - @tony2coats," Cavallari wrote on the photo. The quote was attributed to tight end Tony Scheffler, Cutler's teammate for three years with the Denver Broncos.

The Bears cut Cutler, 33, earlier this month. He has since been linked to the New York Jets, Arizona Cardinals, and San Francisco 49ers. Cutler underwent surgery in December for a torn labrum and was expected to be medically cleared this month.

WGN Radio's Adam Hoge reported Tuesday that there is a "strong belief" at the Annual League Meeting that Cutler won't play anywhere next season. NFL Network National Insider Ian Rapoport also reported that Cutler's 2017 campaign was in jeopardy.

"He's one of several veterans who are still considering whether they want to play," Rapoport reported in February. "It is a consideration. It's something he's confided in people."

Cutler was scheduled to meet with the Jets, before the franchise decided to sign Josh McCown. The 2008 Pro Bowl selection completed 81-of-137 passes for 1,059 yards, four touchdowns, and five interceptions in five games last season for the Bears. After spending the first three years of his career with the Broncos, he joined the Bears in 2009 in a blockbuster trade.
