March 23 (UPI) -- A Super Bowl rendezvous of sorts could assemble in Foxborough.

Former New England Patriots cornerback Darrelle Revis could end up back with the team, according to CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora.

La Canfora wrote Thursday that a Revis return with the Patriots "looks increasingly likely." Revis, 31, won a Super Bowl with the 2014 Patriots. He is a four-time All-Pro and seven-time Pro Bowl selection in 10 NFL seasons for the New York Jets, Patriots, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Revis struggled last season, routinely getting burnt by top-tier wide receivers and defending a career-low five passes. He had one interception last season for the 5-11 Jets.

The Super Bowl champions signed Stephon Gilmore this offseason, but could have a glaring hole in its secondary with the departure of Malcolm Butler. Butler has been linked to the New Orleans Saints.

"Executives from numerous NFL clubs told me they fully expect Revis to end up there," La Canfora reported.

He also wrote that he expects Bill Belichick to give Revis $6 million as part of a two or three year contract. The Jets still owe him $6 million in guaranteed salary. They cut the 31-year-old earlier this month. Revis, who had his assault case dropped, also said he would like to play for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Revis last ranked as an elite cornerback in 2014, when Pro Football Focus rated him as the No. 4 cornerback in terms of overall and coverage grades. He came in at No. 66 last season.
