The Indianapolis Colts released cornerback Patrick Robinson on Friday after the 29-year-old suffered through a disappointing 2016 campaign.

The Colts reportedly cleared $2.5 million in cap space with the move.

Robinson signed a three-year, $13.5 contract prior to last season but played in just seven games. He didn't record an interception and ended the season on injured reserved due to a groin injury.

Robinson has 10 career interceptions in 81 NFL games (49 starts) with the New Orleans Saints (2010-14), San Diego Chargers (2015) and Colts.

He has 260 career tackles, three forced fumbles and one sack.
