Detroit Lions sign free agents Akeem Spence, Rick Wagner, Cornelius Washington

The Detroit Lions signed defensive tackle Akeem Spence and offensive tackle Rick Wagner to free agent contracts on Friday.

Spence agreed to a reported three-year deal worth $10.5 million and Wagner to a five-year contract worth up to $9 million per season.

The Lions later signed free agent defensive end Cornelius Washington for a reported two-year deal worth $6 million.

The 6-foot-1, 307-pound Spence spent the previous four seasons (2013-16) with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In 2016, he played in all 16 games (four starts), making 19 tackles, a half-sack and two tackles for loss.

Spence, a former fourth-round selection by the Buccaneers in the 2013 draft out of Illinois, has appeared in 56 career games (30 starts). In four NFL seasons, his career totals include 96 tackles, 5.5 sacks, nine tackles for loss and three fumble recoveries.

The 6-6, 310-pound Wagner embarks on his fifth NFL season after beginning his career with the Baltimore Ravens (2013-16). He played in 15 games last season along the Ravens offensive line, making 14 starts at right tackle.

Wagner, drafted by the Ravens in the fifth round in 2013 out of Wisconsin, has played in 62 of a possible 64 games (47 starts) for the Ravens over the last four seasons.

The 6-4, 292-pound Washington comes to Detroit after beginning his NFL career with the Chicago Bears (2013-16). He recorded 20 tackles, two sacks, one pass defense and two tackles for loss in 15 games (two starts) last season.

Washington, drafted by the Bears in the sixth round in 2013 out of Georgia, has appeared in 31 games (two starts) with 27 total tackles, three sacks, one pass defense and five tackles for loss.
