March 8 (UPI) -- The greatest wide receiver of all time knows a thing or two about recognizing talent.

But Jerry Rice wasn't talking about his beloved San Francisco 49ers pass catchers Wednesday. He tweeted about his joy after seeing the New York Giants add free agent wide receiver Brandon Marshall.

Marshall joins Eli Manning's offense and should provide a great complement to Odell Beckham Jr., one of the most prolific pass catchers in football.

"What a combo @brandonmarshall vs @OBJ #shouldbeexciting," Rice tweeted.

Rice also tweeted about the 49ers adding quarterback Brian Hoyer and speculation regarding Kirk Cousins.

Marshall, 32, took less money than he could have gotten elsewhere to join the Giants. Unlike Rice, who had a decorated postseason résumé, Marshall has never appeared in a playoff game. Marshall is a five-time Pro Bowl selection and was an All-Pro in 2012.
