March 1 (UPI) -- Erik Burkhardt and Johnny Manziel have an agent/client relationship once again.

The former Cleveland Browns quarterback rehired the agent recently. Now Manziel is "drawing real interest from teams" at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis, according to NFL.com.

Manziel, 24, was cut in March by the Browns. He told a judge Tuesday that his life is "trending upward." In December, Manziel reached a plea deal on a domestic violence charge in Dallas involving his former girlfriend. He avoided jail time by agreeing to meet certain conditions over a 12-month span.

If Manziel doesn't meet those conditions, he will be prosecuted on a Class A misdemeanor assault charge. If convicted, he could see a maximum punishment of a year in jail and $4,000 fine.

Burkhardt fired the former Heisman Trophy winner in Feb. 2016, following the domestic violence allegations. Drew Rosenhaus fired him again in April.

"Everything has been going extremely smoothly and my life is trending upward," Manziel said via the Dallas Morning News, "so I don't even want to let this get anywhere near the rabbit hole that you were describing. This situation is in my hands...I need to get my life in order. These are the things I need to do."

Manziel's agreement with the district attorney's office requires him to take anger management, attend a domestic violence impact panel, and partake in the NFL's substance abuse program or participate in court-approved drug and alcohol rehab.

He could be facing another lengthy suspension upon his potential return to the league.
