Feb. 18 (UPI) -- Defensive end Cameron Wake showed he had plenty of fuel left last season during the Miami Dolphins' run to the playoffs.

The franchise rewarded him Saturday with a $19 million extension through the 2018 season. Wake's deal includes $11 million guaranteed.

"I am happy, proud, and honored to announce that I've sign a contract extension," Wake said. "You guys got me for another couple years I can't wait to get out there and continue to play work hard and make you guys happy. Hard Rock Stadium was a lot of fun last year. It was one to remember and we want to build on that and make this upcoming year even better."

Wake earned his fifth Pro Bowl selection after totaling 11.5 sacks, five forced fumbles, and an interception. He ranked No. 3 in the AFC in sack total and No. 6 in the NFL. He took over as a starter in Week 6. The 35-year-old is one of only three NFL players in the last decade to have a double-digit sack season at 34-years-old or older.

Wake's 81.5 career sacks rank No. 2 all-time for the Dolphins. Pro Football Hall of Famer Jason Taylor ranks No. 1 with 131 career quarterback takedowns. Wake, an All-Pro in 2012, also had 11.5 sacks in 2014. He played in just seven games in 2015 because of a torn Achilles.

The Pro Football Focus Comeback Player of the Year was the No. 7 ranked defensive end.
