The Seattle Seahawks avoided the loss of a draft pick for not listing cornerback Richard Sherman's knee injury on the injury report during the second half of last season, according to multiple reports.

Instead, the Seahawks received a warning for not following injury protocol.

Seattle regularly listed Sherman on the report as "non-injury related" for 11 of the team's final 12 games, including the playoffs, but never listed Sherman as dealing with a knee injury.

There was one week during the stretch in which the Seahawks listed Sherman having an ankle injury. That injury healed and he went back to being listed with the non-injury designation.

The issue moved into the public eye when coach Pete Carroll revealed after the season that Sherman dealt with a "significant knee" injury over the second half of the season.

In another development, defensive end Cliff Avril revealed that he underwent surgery on Tuesday but the specific nature wasn't divulged by Avril or the team.

Avril announced on his Twitter feed that the "Surgery was a success!!!" He also posted a picture on his Instagram account showing that Dr. William C. Myers in Philadelphia performed the operation.

Myers specializes in core muscles injuries and often does sport hernia procedures.

Avril, 30, posted a career-high 11.5 sacks last season while making the Pro Bowl for the first time in his career.
